the big ben clock

The PhD in Crop Science has started its activity as a Doctorate School in the year 2004, resulting from the merging of three pre-existing doctoral courses (Crop Productivity, Crop Protection and Environmental Agronomy). In the following years, the Doctorate School turned into the PhD program as it is nowadays, going through some organizational changes, such as the alignment with the normal academic year (before, each PhD cycle started in january).

Nowadays, it is still based on the three former courses that have been developed according to the new technologies, new scientific disciplines and current research demands. The main research areas of the PhD in Crop Science are Agronomy, Agrobiotechnologies and Crop protection, with a general coordination and common teaching activities for the PhD students, mainly related to basic subjects in the first year of activity, while in the second and third years, the teaching consists of courses and seminars specific to each of the three main sections named above.
